Tom Cruise returns to `Jack Reacher` sequel

Los Angeles: Hollywood star Tom Cruise is all set to reprise his role of ex-military police officer `Jack Reacher` in the sequel to last year`s movie of the same name.

The movie was based on the novel `One Shot` (2005) by British author Lee Child, who has used the titular character in a series of books, reported Deadline.

Lee`s `Never Go Back` would apparently hit the big screen as Paramount and Skydance Productions are re-teaming for a sequel.
The novel was published in September this year, and is the 18th addition in the series.

The films companies are looking for a writer to pen the script as Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote and directed the first adaptation, is busy with `Mission Impossible 5` film.
