Ashutosh Rana returns as TV presenter

New Delhi: Actor Ashutosh Rana is making a TV comeback with `Bharat Bhatya Vidhata: Loktantra Ka Makeover`, a political talk show that raises issues like unemployment, women safety and corruption.

Rana, who began his showbiz career with hit soap opera `Swabhimaan` before stepping into Bollywood, is returning on the small screen after a gap of four years.

The 45-year-old actor is hosting the segment `Nishane Pe`, which started airing from August 16.

"In the show, I am representing the voice of a common man. We go through many problems in our daily life and these problems have made us restless. We will deal with the problems like unemployment, corruption, female safety and many others in the 13 episode series," Rana told reporters.

The show will have prominent political figures across the country to address the issues raised by the public.

Rana, who hosted TV shows like `Sarkaar Ki Duniya` and `Baazi Kiski` in the past, said he is happy that the small screen is coming up with a good content and Bollywood actors are venturing into it.

"It is a good change that TV shows are coming up with strong contents. Subjects which are related to our lives. Whatever we actors have achieved today, it`s all due to our audience and if we get a chance to be their voice on a public platform then we should definitely do it," he said.

Starting his movie career with Govind Nihalani`s `Sanshodhan`, Rana found fame by playing negative roles in films like `Dushman`, `Sangharsh` and `Haasil`.

He was last seen in `Kismet Love Paisa Dilli`, which did not do well at the box-office.

"I always do films on the basis of scripts. If I found it interesting I do it otherwise I don`t. I did `Kismet Love Paisa Dilli` because I was quite convinced with the script but my bad luck that it didn`t click with audience. Apart from Hindi films, I am also doing Telugu films," he said.

Rana is also gearing up for Ram Gopal Varma`s `Ab Tak Chhappan-2` and `Dirty Politics` opposite Naseeruddin Shah and Mallika Sherawat.
