London: "Bean" star Rowan Atkinson will appear as Henry VIII in the next series of "Horrible Histories".

Not only that, but the actor will also sing about the 16th century king's reign in the style of Elvis Presley for the CBBC show, reported Digital Spy.

Atkinson, 60, is one of several guest stars due to appear in the historical comedy programme's sixth series.

Ben Miller has been lined up to play King John, while Kevin Eldon will take the role of William the Conqueror. Indian-origin actor Sanjeev Bhaskar will also feature in an unconfirmed cameo role.

Lorna Watson and Kathryn Drysdale will have roles as Boudicca and Cleopatra during the series, which will also focus on historical figures such as George III, Napoleon and Winston Churchill.

Meanwhile, series regulars Jim Howick, Simon Farnaby and Sarah Hadland will continue to feature.
