Los Angeles: Warner Bros is developing an untitled drama about the late astrophysicist Carl Sagan and the biopic will be penned by "Deadfall" writer Zach Dean.

Ann Druyan, the late astrophysicist's wife and Emmy-winning writer, is producing the drama along with Lynda Obst who was one of the producers in Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar", reported Ace Showbiz.

Sagan's novel had inspired Robert Zemeckis' 1997 movie "Contact" which starred Jodie Foster and Matthew McConaughey.

Writing over 600 scientific papers, Sagan is best known for his contributions to the scientific research of extraterrestrial life.

He assembled universal messages that could potentially be understood by any extraterrestrial intelligence that might find them in the Pioneer plaque and the Voyager Golden Record.

Druyan, who was married to Sagan from 1981 to his death in 1996, produced and wrote 2014's "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey" for which she won an Emmy for non-fiction writing.
