Mumbai: The first half of 2016 saw a number of unusual names coming together for a film. Among them were Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur for ‘Airlift’, Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan for ‘Ki and Ka’, Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma for ‘Sultan’. The second half of the year too will see many actors teaming up to make an unconventional onscreen Jodi.

Hrithik Roshan – Pooja Hegde
Slated to release on August 12, ‘Mohenjo Daro’ is a magnum opus set in the backdrop of the great Indus Valley Civlisation. Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, ‘Mohenjo Daro’ will see Hrithik Roshan and South Indian diva Pooja Hegde coming together for the first time.
Akshay Kumar – Ileana D’Cruz
Set in the backdrop of the 1950s, ‘Rustom’ starring Akshay Kumar in the titular role will see him sharing screen space with Ileana D’Cruz for the first time. Inspired by a real life incident that shocked the nation, ‘Rustom’ is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and is slated to release on August 12.
Sidharth Malhotra – Katrina Kaif
Directed by debutante Nitya Mehra, ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ will see Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif coming together for the first time. The two actors look great as a couple on screen and will hit the big screen on September 9.
Harshvardhan Kapoor – Saiyami Kher
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Mirzya’ will launch Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor along with Saiyami Kher. The film, which is slated to release on October 7, is already creating waves since the trailer was launched a few weeks back.
Ranbir Kapoor – Aaishwarya Rai Bachchan
Karan Johar’s directorial venture ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ has been in news since inception. Slated to release on October 28, the film will see Aishwarya Rai Bachchan romancing a much younger Ranbir Kapoor on the screen for the first time. Besides the two, the film will also feature Anushka Sharma.
Ajay Devgn – Sayyessha
Ajay Devgn is gearing up for his directorial Shivaay which is slated to release this Diwali (October 28). The film will launch Sayyeshaa, the grand-niece of legendary couple Dilip Kumar-Saira Banu.
Arjun Rampal – Vidya Balan
Vidya Balan and Arjun Rampal will team up for the first time for Sujoy Ghosh’s thriller ‘Kahaani 2’. It will indeed be interesting to see what this new jodi has in store for us. The film is slated to release on November 25.
Ranveer Singh – Vaani Kapoor
Undoubtedly the sexiest of the all new jodis of 2016 – Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor – make a sizzling hot couple. The two will romance each other in Aditya Chopra’s ‘Befikre’, a film that promises to have oodles of lip-locks! Scheduled for release on December 9, ‘Befikre’ is special because it was announced on Late Yash Chopra’s 83rd birthday and marks the directorial comeback of Aditya after 7 years. Moreover, the film’s release will coincide with Aditya and Rani Mukherji’s daughter Adira’s first birthday.
