Los Angeles: Actress Elizabeth Banks will star in an upcoming film based on the famous Battle of the Sexes tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs.
Battle of the Sexes is the official name of the 1973 nationally televised match between Riggs and King, over the best of five sets.
HBO and Playtone have set scribe David Auburn to script the untitled project that will have Banks, 41, playing King and Paul Giamatti as Riggs in the a story of the match in which the 29-year-old No 2-ranked female star beat the 55-year-old retired former Wimbledon champ, reported Deadline.
The film will be executive produced by Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman alongwith Banks and her Brownstone Productions partner Max Handelman.
