Jesse Owens' biopic 'Race' to release in February next year

Los Angeles: Four-time Olympic gold medalist Jesse Owens' biopic "Race" will release on February 9, 2016.

Focus Features preponed the release date of the film, which was originally scheduled to hit the theatres on April 8, said The Hollywood Reporter.

Directed by Stephen Hopkins and starring Stephan James in the title role, "Race" is one of several films in works, which focuses on the life of the famous athlete.

The movie that has already earned good reviews at a recent test screening is one of the first to get a release date.

It was shot in Montreal and on location at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, where Owens won his record-breaking four gold medals in 1936.

William Hurt, Jeremy Irons, Jason Sudeikis and Carice van Houten also star in the project.
