Los Angeles: Hollywood star Leonardo Di Caprio was the first choice to star in 1995's "Now and Then".

Screenwriter of the coming-of-age film Marlene King, made the revelation on the 20th anniversary of the movie, reported Us magazine.

"The one role that originally was different, Leonardo DiCaprio was going to play the Vietnam vet, but something happened and he had a conflict. I know, it's crazy!" King said.

"The Mummy" actor Brendan Fraser went on to play the character. "Brendan was like a last minute swap for him. But Brendan did such a good job, so it was all good," he said. "Now and Then" was based on King's childhood.
