Sam Worthington, Octavia Spencer in "The Shack"

Los Angeles: "Avatar" star Sam Worthington is teaming up with "The Help" actress Octavia Spencer for the movie adaptation of William Paul Young's bestselling novel "The Shack".

The movie is being directed by Stuart Hazeldine, reported Variety. The novel, first published in 2007, revolves around a man whose youngest daughter gets abducted during a family vacation.

Some evidence is found in an abandoned shack leading authorities to believe she was murdered.

Four years later, the father receives a note, apparently from God, inviting him back to the shack. Against his better judgment, he accepts the invitation. Lionsgate acquired rights to the book in 2013.
