'Star Wars' spin-off delayed until 2019

Los Angeles: The second "Star Wars" spin-off has been postponed a year from the original 2018 release to 2019 after director Josh Trank announced his departure from the franchise.

Trank was reportedly fired from "Star Wars" after people at Disney and Lucasfilm heard he was "erratic" and sometimes "very isolated" while filming "The Fantastic Four".

Due to those issues, producers Simon Kinberg and Hutch Parker allegedly had to step in to "pull the film together".

The "Chronicle" helmer has not responded to the rumour, but a spokesman for 21st Century Fox insists the studio is "very happy with the movie and we can't wait for audiences to see it."

They, however, acknowledge "there were definitely some bumps in the road."
