Los Angeles: Benedict Cumberbatch-starrer historical thriller 'The Imitation Game', which is about a World War II hero who got criminally prosecuted for his homosexuality, will be honoured by the Human Rights Campaign, America's largest LGBT civil rights organisation.
Alan Turing, a British scientist-turned-World War II code-breaker, is portrayed by Cumberbatch in the film, said The Hollywood Reporter. The Human Rights Campaign will honour the creative talent responsible for Morten Tyldum's film at its New York Gala Dinner on January 31, next year at the Waldorf Astoria in New York.
"We are proud to honour the stars and filmmakers of The Imitation Game for bringing the captivating yet tragic story of Alan Turing to the big screen," HRC president Chad Griffin said in a statement.
"Alan Turing was a true hero who saved countless lives with his revolutionary thinking and determination. Yet during the most tragic part of his lifetime, he stood alone and endured unimaginable torment and shame because he was gay. This film will give millions across the globe a chance to celebrate a truly brilliant man for his groundbreaking contributions to the world."
Cumberbatch is expected to attend the HRC ceremony, along with other representatives of the film.
