Red wine does not lower high BP as previously believed

London: Drinking two or three glasses of red wine each day has no effect on lowering high blood pressure, according to a new research.

Experts have previously praised red wine’s ability to fight heart problems, lower cholesterol and slash the risk of diabetes.

But a new Dutch study has found that polyphenols makes no positive difference to high blood pressure and subsequent cardiovascular disease.

“Our findings do not support the idea that red wine polyphenols can account for the suggested cardiovascular benefits,” the Daily Express quoted researcher Lise Botden as saying.
