Emraan Hashmi flew down to the capital city to promote his Dussehra release ‘Rush’. And if one goes by the rushes of the film, the actor looks all set to stun his fans as he promises a power-packed performance. Emraan dons a never-seen-before avatar in ‘Rush’. Resham Sengar of Zeenews.com got hold of the actor to answer a few unasked questions about the movie, his profession and personal life.

Please tell us how different is your role in ‘Rush’ from the ones you have done in ‘Jannat’, ‘Jannat 2’ and your other earlier movies?
It is for the first time that I am playing a crime journalist and also the character that I am playing is very relatable. I have never played the role of a news anchor or a crime journalist. My character is an urban male who stays in Delhi. He is ambitious and comes from a middle-class family. About how different my role is in ‘Rush’ – I would say this is the first film where I came so close to the realm of media. It was a challenge in itself to mould into such a dynamic character who deals into breaking news, deadlines and headlines 24X7. It was very exciting, so yes people would see me in all new avatar in this film.

Considering the fact that you are used to doing ‘A’ rated movies, what is your take on doing a Sooraj Barjatya kind movie?
I don’t think I would fit into that kind of roles. I mean he (Sooraj Barjatya) makes good films which the audience also likes but I am not interested in doing those types of movies.

Are you not interested in doing a family film?
I would do a family film if it has a different subject. But a family film is a very generic term. It could be a different entertaining thriller also. But it won’t probably have an adult content that usually such films have. The characters I play in my films are generally edgier and my films have a commercial touch. So if Sooraj Barjatya would make a film like that I could do it.

A kissing scene between Neha Dhupia and you from the movie has been leaked very recently on the web. Is that marketing gimmick?
I don’t think that it has been leaked. It is just a part of the movie’s promo that shows my character’s relationship with Neha’s character.

How comfortable are you doing intimate scenes with actresses on screen and vice-versa? And how comfortable is your wife with that?
I am comfortable to a certain point but sometimes it gets a bit unnerving. I can’t answer the vice-versa question (Smiles). You may have to ask Neha and Sagarika to answer that. My wife knows about the demands of my profession, so she is quite okay with it now.

What is your mantra to being loyal to one’s spouse in the time when Bollywood actors are generally prone to infidelity?
I think what keeps you loyal is a sense of responsibility in your relationship. If there is trust and understanding in a relationship, then a person won’t stray really.

What are your plans for Navratri, Dussehra and Diwali?
I am shooting for a couple of movies that I want to finish during the Navratri. But I will celebrate Diwali with my family if I am not travelling.

In one of your earlier interviews you said that you won’t prefer being compared to super star Salman Khan but in another interview you gave, you had said that it is your honour to be compared to Salman. Can you comment on that?
Actually, the thing is that I keep contradicting my statements sometimes. I respect Salman Khan for what he has achieved and it is flattering to be compared to him. But I want to be known for my body of work. And I don’t want the newcomers to be compared with me because I don’t see that to be fair.
