4 arrested in Gujarat constable recruitment exam paper leak

A written exam for recruitment of Gujarat police constables was on Sunday cancelled hours before it was scheduled to commence after authorities learnt that the paper had got leaked.

Ahmedabad: Four people have on Monday been arrested in connection with the Gujarat Police Constable recruitment exam paper leak. The accused have been identified as Manhar Patel, Roopal Sharma, PV Patel and Mukesh Chaudhary.

According to news agency ANI, PV Patel is Police sub-inspector in DG office and has been suspended following the incident. 

Mukesh Chaudhary and Manhar Pate, who are BJP workers, have also been suspended by the party. Roopal Sharma is rector of a hostel.

The prime conspirator in the incident is YashpalSinh Solanki from Lunavada. Solanki works in Vadodara municipal corp is prime and is currently absconding.

As many as 8.75 lakh candidates were scheduled to appear for the exam which was to start at 3 pm Sunday in 2,440 centres across Gujarat, the official said.

The examination was called off hours before the test was scheduled to start after it came to light that the question paper was leaked, said Vikas Sahay, chairman of the Lokrakshak Recruitment Board, the body that conducts the examination.
