NDA's target to win 11 Lok Sabha seats in Assam: Ranjeet Kumar Dass

BJP Assam President Ranjeet Kumar Dass today said that the National Democratic Alliance has set a target to win 11 out of 14 Lok Sabha seats from the state in 2019 general elections.

Guwahati: BJP Assam President Ranjeet Kumar Dass today said that the National Democratic Alliance has set a target to win 11 out of 14 Lok Sabha seats from the state in 2019 general elections.

"Currently we have seven members from Assam and all are from BJP. In 2019 Lok Sabha polls, we aim to win 11 seats from Assam on behalf of NDA," Dass said at a press conference in Assam Assembly complex.

Apart from BJP, the other constituents of NDA in Assam are Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF).

"In order to achieve this target, we need to strengthen our organisation.

For this, we have decided to give additional responsibilities to our existing MLAs of the those legislative constituencies, where we do not have a member," Dass said.

The BJP state unit President today issued a list for 50 constituencies, which are not represented by BJP members, along with the names of the current MLAs.

"The MLAs have been asked to stay at least two days in every month to the respective additional constituencies and work for strengthening the party.
"They will also submit a report to me," he added.

Talking about the Panchayat elections in Assam, which is likely next year, Dass said BJP is looking to fight it alone without the alliance partners as "it has been the tradition so far"
