New Delhi: A 28-year-old man from Erode, Coimbatore who was declared brain dead in a private hospital by doctors gifted life to five people after his family agreed to donate his organs.

The deceased was brought to Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital (KMCH) and a team of doctors harvested his liver, eyes and both the kidneys.

While the kidneys and liver were transplanted at the same hospital, the eyes were sent to a nearby private hospital in the city.

The deceased K Venkatachalam hailing from Salem district had an accident, on December 7, in which he had suffered serious head injuries.
