Mumbai: Deepika Padukone who made headlines in the US with her Hollywood debut film xXx: Return of Xander Cage starring Vin Diesel, earlier this year, maybe a part of the blockbuster film’s sequel too.
The Indian beauty played Serena Unger in the DJ Caruso directorial.
According to a DNA report, an insider said, “Deepika will, in all probability, be a part of the sequel because her contract reportedly has a clause that says if the box-office business of the film crosses the $170 million mark (which it did and did far more), she will definitely reprise the role of Serena. It also apparently specifies that her role will become meatier and longer in the next outing.”
Talking about the film and her role in it, Deepika, during an interaction with media in January said, “It's action in the real sense. Guns, everyone's badass, there's good people and there's bad people, you have cars blowing up. It's really an action film but there's also so much drama to it.”
"(I wanted) to be part of a fun film, have a fun experience, work with fun people', she said. 'How do you make a movie that has all of these ingredients? Entertaining, fun, with a message, action, all of it coming together. I think this is that dish," she said.
"(Serena Unger is) strong, she's independent, she reminded me of today's women. 'And that doesn't mean she can't be feminine. She's delicate and feminine at the same time but she's also intelligent and she can stand up for herself," she added.
The dimpled Indian beauty played host to Vin at the grand premiere of the action-thriller in the city in January.
According to an ANI report, when Diesel was asked by the media, what was so special about working with Deepika and would he like to work with her again, he repeated the question, "What is so special to work with Deepika and would you like to work with her again?"
Filmmaker D.J. Caruso chose to answer the question by asking Vin, "How many days shoot are you talking about?"
To which the 49-year-old actor added, "How soon?" and asked Caruso, "When are we working together again?...Do you have a date?”
The director replied, "I heard that I should start preparing something to be ready for spring, early summer."
"Wow! I think that tells you a little something. If in May, we are filming for Viacom the next xXx..., it would be very evident how much I like working with her," Vin exclaimed.
So is the fourth instalment of xXx... on the anvil? Let’s wait and watch.
