Assocham finds fault with Bhandarkar's 'Corporate'

Film-maker Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Corporate,' which revolves around the lifestyle of corporate India, has drawn flak from various industry quarters.

New Delhi, July 19: Film-maker Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Corporate,' which revolves around the lifestyle of corporate India, has drawn flak from various industry quarters.
The Rs four crore movie has angered industry body Assocham, which said the movie has depicted India Inc in a bad light.

"The film paints the entire corporate sector with the same brush, portraying industrial houses as ruthless, heartless and hand in glove with corrupt politicians. Nothing can be further from the truth", Assocham Secretary General DS Rawat was quoted as saying in the release.

"The woman protagonist in the movie has been depicted as a sacrificial goat and this is not the real picture of the country's corporate world, which boasts of some of the most
respectable leaders in the country," he said.

"While certain jargons such as like bottom line and takeover bids were used correctly, no genuine effort had been made to project the real face of Indian industrial houses. The
India growth story would not have been possible but for the contribution of a host of corporate leaders," Rawat said.

However, other industry bodies like FICCI and CII have declined to comment.

"Our members have not given us any reaction, therefore, we do not have anything to comment," CII media relation head Charu Mathur said.
