With acting in her genes, the god-daughter of Director Steven Spielberg, Drew Blyth Barrymore has savoured every inch of life.
She was born in Culver City, California on February 22, 1975, the daughter of an American actor, John Drew Barrymore and Ildiko Jaid Barrymore. Her parents divorced after she was born. She has a half-brother John Blyth Barrymore, also an actor, and two half-sisters, Blyth Dolores Barrymore and Brahma (Jessica) Blyth Barrymore.
With the onset of her career from a mere eleven months old till date, she has played sweet, charming, endearing to sexy, naughty, bitchy roles.
Before her first birthday, Drew was chosen in a Puppy Choice Dog Food commercial. She made her first debut film in Altered States(1980). Success followed with films like E.T- the Extra Terrestrial, Irreconciable Differences and Poison Ivy where she played a manipulative, evil teenage seductress.
But this stardom came along with the baggage of a troubled childhood. As narrated in her 1990 autobigraphy, ‘Little girl Lost’ she started smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol by the time she was 9, smoking marijuana at 10, and snorting cocaine at 13. She was in rehab at age 13 and a second time at 14.
During the nineties she posed nude for Playboy as in five of her movies.
One of her unforgettable twentieth bithday gifts was from Spielberg- a quilt that read ‘Cover yourself up’ enclosed with nude pictures of Playboy.Once in ‘The Late show with David Letterman’, she climbed onto Dave Letterman`s desk and bared her breasts to him, her back to the camera intended to celebrate his birthday.
Barrymore also had a bumpy induction into matrimony. She married and divorced twice, first to a Welsh bartender turned bar owner, Jeremy Thomas ( March 20-April 28, 1994), then to Comedian Tom Green (July 7, 2001- Oct 15 2002). Drew has also been engaged two other times, first to Jamie Walters in 1992, then to Fabrizio Moretti in 2004.
She is currently dating ‘Live Free or Die Hard’ actor Justin Long . They met on the sets of ‘He’s Just Not That IntoYou’ and since then they have been inseparable saying “they are head over heels in love with each other”.
