Melbourne, Feb 01: After losing the one-off Twenty20 international played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was all praise for the Aussie team.
“I loved the fireworks, especially Gilchrist’s batting,” Dhoni said, putting up a brave face.

On being asked if there was anything that he thought went right for the Indians, Dhoni replied, “The only thing that went right for us was that we won the toss.”

However, Dhoni did not take the loss as a sign of things to come and was looking forward to playing in the upcoming triangular series.

“If we realise our mistakes and can learn from them, there is every chance that we can put up a good show in the tri-series,” Dhoni said.

“We were short of a few players from the squad that won the World Cup. Having Yuvraj
and some of the other guys would have been helpful,” replied Dhoni, when asked what he thought was the major reason for India’s poor show.

On the issue of Sachin Tendulkar opting out of the game, Dhoni replied, “I asked Sachin if he wanted to practice for the IPL, but he preferred to rest.”

The Aussie captain Michael Clarke, who was also the man of the match, was all praise for his youngsters. On being asked about his opinion on his team’s performance Clarke said, “It was a fantastic performance by the guys. We did everything right.”

“The boys were keen to play and the youngsters did a good job.”
