Let us stop immoral practices during this Holi. It is an occasion of fun but lets not make it frivolous.

While playing, or, even watching the celebration of Holi is great fun, we should not let it be marred by certain unwarranted things. Given here are some simple Dos and Don`ts to make the most out of Holi this year.

Dos

· Burn dry wood instead of wet wood for bonfire

· Celebrate Holi keeping in mind its purpose of ‘uniting people’ and ‘a victory of truth over evil’

· Be careful of the ‘bhang’ sweets.

· Play Holi at office and home only with the willing persons.

· Make it clear if you don’t want to play colours and recognize the difference between playfulness and harassment

Dont`s

· Do not apply colours forcibly. Stop people from doing so and give them the reasons.

· Don’t use metallic, harmful colours or lob balloons at unsuspecting commoners.

· Discourage children from playing Holi with eggs, mud or gutter water. Never turn a blind eye to such unclean ways of celebration.

· If you fancy a glass of bhang, go ahead. But let your family not get carried away. Your children should not get addicted to this intoxicating drink. Holi revelry should be contained within decent limits. Be around those who are in senses.

· Avoid loud and rowdy Holi parties, which might spoil the family environment. Children get accustomed to such parties at a very early age and tend to repeat the same type of celebrations later in life.

· Don’t walk alone on the streets on the Holi day- especially women. You’ll be a sure target for miscreants. Play Holi only with a group of close friends and relatives as against strangers.

· Use only powdered colour and water.

· Keep a big bucket of water handy for your children, so that they do not resort to gutter water and other unclean sources.

· Roll your windows up while driving your car.

· Be available at one venue throughout Holi, especially if you want to avoid rowdy Holi revelers.

Tips to follow before going out on Holi

· Use a hat, cap or anything like that to protect your hair from being coloured with hard-to-rinse dyes.

· Use dental caps to save your teeth from any unwarranted stains

· Use a sunglass to protect your eyes from a misfire of colour filled darts or water jets.

· Wear full-sleeved t-shirts or shirts and leggings that cover your legs fully.

· If you are playing Holi, apply a thick layer of coconut or any oil on your body and hair.

· Rags like tattered denims, and all bright coloured shades like black, blue, green, purple are highly recommended.

· Try to save yourself off from all possible attacks on the face. In case your attempts fail, keep your eyes and lips tightly shut if you are attacked on your face.

· Do not bump into the frenzied group of mob if you take to streets. It is better to cross the road to the sidewalk across or, simply stay at a safe distance.
