New Delhi, Sept 17: Former BCCI Selection Committee chief and Indian wicketkeeper Kiran More on Sunday reportedly alleged that the present chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar made Rahul Dravid resign from Team India’s captaincy. More has revealed that Vengsarkar was unhappy with Dravid’s captaincy. Speaking to a TV channel he said, ‘I hold the current selection committee chairman (Vengsarkar) responsible for Dravid stepping down as skipper’.
The former cricketer commented that as selection committee chairman, Vengsarkar should have supported the skipper and not criticise him publicly and that it was unfortunate.

Reports in media also indicate that Vengsarker was quite critical of Dravid and never appreciated his leadership. Vengsarkar even questioned Dravid’s batting position in the recent India-England ODI series. Dravid was also unhappy that he was not given the due credit of India’s Test victory outside the country after nearly two decades.

Meanwhile, Vengsarkar will meet BCCI chairman Sharad Pawar on Monday to decide the successor of Dravid. This comes a day before the crucial meet when the board contemplates upon Dravid’s successor. Sachin Tendulkar is believed to be the frontrunner for the job, though the master blaster has not yet disclosed his views on the issue.

Rahul Dravid had on Friday stunned the cricket world with his sudden decision to step down as Team India Captain. Dravid’s decision was conveyed by BCCI and he never gave any official statement in media for the reason behind such a move.
