Pune, Feb 09: Twenty-five kids, who enrolled for a week-long workshop on animation conducted by the Animatiz Studio, came out with their own film called 'The Gift'.
Aged between 8-14, the kids were first introduced to the world of animation and then told to work on a story. They drew and sketched using oil crayons. Animatiz then compiled their drawings and turned them into a six-minute animated film. The story board and the characters for the film were designed by the children themselves.
"The story was that first a girl was sitting sadly then a butterfly comes and she runs after the butterfly. Then the butterfly sits on a flower and she wants the flower but many people come and take the flowers, at last only two flowers are left," said Karan Karnik, one of the participants.

"It was a wonderful experience, and at first, we couldn't believe that we had made the sketches. Now, when we see it in motion, we realised that we could make a movie," said Shreya, another participant.

"We had to give additional effects, but overall, the children did a really good job. Looking into the quality of this film, it will be sent to national and international film festivals," said Manoj Paharia, a teacher at the workshop.

"The "Gift" was screened on February 1 at The National Film Archives Auditorium in Pune, and now will be sent to the FICCI film festival in Mumbai.
