Day 2: Bright colours are back to seduce you

With temple spires lining the ramp, models draped in saris - ace designer Tarun Tahiliani’s Winter collection was all about Indian chic. Colour palette ranged from deep red to golden to beige. Also spotted were western and Greek influences in the form of togas and flaring skirts, teamed with jackets. Tahiliani’s emphasis on accessories was simple yet elegant: thin shimmering belts, small feminine purses, wrist bands that looked like silver dripping all over. Quite a wearable collection.

Petite designs, dark hues, digital prints, beautiful and clean cuts, balloon dresses, blouses becoming ponchos, colourful maxis. Niki Mahajan’s collection was quite satisfying to the senses and wearable as well.

Varun Bahl’c collection was arguably the best so far in this fashion week. Men would thank him for crafting woollen polo shirts that team well with fitted velvety pants topped up with exquisite yet wearable jackets while women would adore him for coming out with perfect cut pants, pencil skirts and knee length courts.

Warm taupes, reds, teals, chocolates and blacks were the dominating colours he suggested for the coming winter season.

Nitin Bal`s Autumn Winter collection called `Waiting for yellow` is meat to revive the vanishing craft. But this in no way stops it from being trendy and very lively. His bright numbers in orange, pink and yellow are a must-have for Derby watching, stately party hopping ladies. Elegant and English inspired head-gear is to die for, really. Nitin has used a blend of Goth and folk in his collection that tends to support the artisans of Himachal.

When Saif Ali Khan’s ex-girl friend Rozza scorches down the ramp in a little black dress with no back and on heels- expectations are bound to rocket up. Gayatri Khanna didn’t disappoint in her ‘Jewels of the Forest’ collection as the opening show on Day 2.

Gayatri has chosen solid and rich colours of blacks, greys, browns, indigo, plum and as dawn descends on the forest she picks beiges and brighter greens and blues in her prints as well as in her dresses. Shimmering satin and velvets in cape shapes gave the ravishing models a look to die for- without revealing an once of flesh. The collection showcased fitted pants, wide leg jumpsuits, cape shaped dresses, floor length gowns, mini shift dresses, flared blouses as well as ankle length cropped skinny pants.

`Giant` is Prashant`s tribute to the incomplete yet perfect mythology of James Dean. His work reflected an aggression of the youth yet retained an elegant spirit of a blossoming flower that dies young. Bright colours, broad digital prints, stripes (literally- bandage dresses) made his collection look contemporary and ultra chic.
The silhouettes were fitted, baggy, balloon hems as well as floor length dresses.
Fitted pants and wide leg pants both blended in the collection.
