The grand finale of the 11th edition of Wills India Fashion Week concluded with many prominent actors adding spice to the hot and happening fashion gala. The final day had some of the leading names of Indian fashion industry showcasing their collection.

Bollywood’s current heartthrob Katrina Kaif sashayed in a blue gown, radiantly displaying a creation by designer duo Anamika Khanna and Ashish N Soni. The collection was dominantly in ebony, charcoal, flashing reds and royal blue showing a European as well as Indian influence. Anamika Khanna`s designs for women had a colour palette of blue blacks and blacked out brights that added a metrosexual bling.

Petite actor Sameera Reddy set the ramp on fire in a slinky leopard-print long dress by designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock. The collection had drape gowns, shirt-waist style kaftans, slip dresses with graphical animal and floral prints. The outfits in red, rust, orange, yellow, lime, blue, red black, off-white, gold and green, were embellished with crystals and feathers.

Actor Minissha Lamba looked radiant in a magenta sari by designer Renu Tandon. The collection was very feminine with harmonious folds and beautiful materials. Renu`s colour palette dominating this exuberant collection were purples, pinks in different shades, vivacious plums, lilacs, lavenders and black with a hint of red.

Sudhanshu Pandey, Pooja Bedi with boyfriend Hanif Hilal walked the ramp in creation by designer Priya Awasthy. Priya’s colours varied from soft shades of nude to mint and beige.

Singer Alka Yagnik looked demure in a silk sari by designer friend Sucheta V Merh. The colour palette had yellows, camel browns enhanced with purples and orange. The clothes included layered, fitted and off shoulder dresses, wrapped skirts and pants of different lengths and sarees.

Designers Paras Bairoliya and Shalini Jaikaria of `Geisha Designs` had a bit of fun at Paris Hilton’s expense. Their evening wear collection captured the "haughty self-display" among the celebrities.

Although the collections were for Autumn/Winter, they hardly created the desired effect, with the exception of a few like Lecoanet Hemant and Nitin Bal Chauhan. The designers had extensively used large pockets, capes, checked trousers, belts, waistbands and hoods in their creations.

Business was brisk with 87 domestic buyers and 60 international ones placing substantial orders with the designers. The fashion event attracted international buyers from the Middle East, Europe and US.
