Washington, March 16: Actor George Clooney is reportedly making a comeback on the long-running US medical drama ER for its final season
David Zabel, who is the series’ producer, is eager to get all the old and new characters together for a unique special, in celebration of the hit show coming to an end.

Zabel would like to especially get George to do a repetition of his role as Dr Douglas Ross for the show, which will close after its 15th season.

Clooney had rose to prominence with the TV drama, which had put the 46-year-old star on the Hollywood A-list after his run on the show from 1994 to 1999.

"We want to revisit characters that have existed on the show over the years and say where they are now,” Contactmusic quoted Zabel as saying.

"We'd love to get them all back in some way - that doesn't mean we are going to but we are going to try," he added.

Another character that bosses at the show's U.S. network NBC are eager to bring back is actor Anthony Edwards, despite the fact that his character Dr Mark Greene died of brain tumour.

"There are ways to do it that we've thought about - even if it were like a lost episode from 1996," Zabel stated.
