District Magistrate Ajay Kumar Upadhyay said a high
level meeting of officials was held here today to review the
situation and a state of high alert has been declared.

The health department has been directed to circulate
fresh guidelines for hospitals and educational institutions
regarding the spread of H1N1 virus and distribute tamiflu
medicine in the government hospitals.

A five-year-old girl had tested positive for H1N1 virus
in Lucknow yesterday.

CMO, RS Verma said a quick response team of National
Institute of Communicable Diseases was deployed at the airport
for screening passengers.

In Gorakhpur, a 10-bedded ward has been earmarked for
such patients at the district hospital here. However, tamiflu
drugs are not available, sources said.

Additional director (health), L P Rawat said all
district hospitals in Gorakhpur and Basti divisions were
instructed to arrange for isolation wards.
