HP launches six new notebooks

Hewlett-Packard India has launched six new notebooks, strengthening its leadership in the field of mobility.

Bangalore, June 23: Hewlett-Packard India on Tuesday
launched six new notebooks, strengthening its leadership in
the field of mobility.

Unveiling the range comprising DV2, DV3 and DV6 series and
HP Mini 110 series and CQ 610 series HP Pro Book here, Rajiv
Grover, Director HP Mobility Products, told reporters that the
new range has been launched keeping in mind the changing
consumer profile of notebook users.

"Notebook users who were in the age group of 45-50 five to
eight years back are now anywhere between 18-30 years of age.

So when we look at today`s market for portable devices, it`s
about development of a continuum of devices that consumers`
unique needs, whether for personal or business use", he said.

HP India plans to expand its retail footprint across 650
cities and expand the retail partner network to over 4,000 by
the end of this year. The new range of HP notebook PCs will be
offered to customers through HP`s wide network of exclusive HP
stores, multi-brand outlets and large format dealers, he said.

Speaking on the notebook market in India, Grover, quoting
IDC figures, said the "market went through a low patch between
October-December 2008, the market is reviving because of
improvements in all segments; retail, consumer segment,
education, SMBs (Small Medium Business) and government".

"HPs notebook sales in Q1 of 2009 rose to 471,000 units
from 454,000 units in Q4 of 2008", he said.
