Karachi, April 01: Former Pakistan captain Inzamam- ul-Haq supported the decision of Pakistan Cricket Board for slapping a ban on tear away fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar.
Speaking exclusively to Zee News former Pakistan captain Inzamam ul Haq said, “He should blame himself for this situation.”

“No one is above cricket…whoever thinks himself to be bigger than cricket, will only doom his chances and harm his career”, Inzy told categorically.

But Inzy asked the PCB to allow the player to play in IPL. A sentiment echoed by PCB chairman Nasim Ashraf who said, “I hope this should not affect his chances of playing outside Pakistan.”

However another former captain Zaheer Abbas criticized PCB for banning Akhtar from playing cricket for five years.

Speaking in favour of Shoaib, Abbas said, “Rare talent like Akhtar needed better handling. Pakistan cricket will be poorer after this career threatening ban.”

Former Pakistan captains Imran Khan and Javed Miandad slammed the country`s cricket board on Tuesday for handing fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar a five-year ban on disciplinary grounds.

"It is totally unacceptable. This ban it literally ends his career. The board is destroying Pakistan cricket by banning players," Imran told the Express television channel.
