Jaya hits out at Centre and TN govt for `poor performance`

AIADMK supremo and former chief minister Jayalalithaa has come down heavily on the Centre and the state government for "not controlling" inflation and terrorism effectively.

Theni (TN), Sept 15: AIADMK supremo and former
chief minister Jayalalithaa has come down heavily on the
Centre and the state government for "not controlling"
inflation and terrorism effectively.

Addressing a public meeting here last night in
connection with former chief minister C N Annadurai's birth
centenary, Jayalalithaa flayed the Centre for not "protecting
the nation's sovereignty" and said both the governments were
"solely responsible for inflation and also ceding Katchativu
(to Sri Lanka)."

The AIADMK general secretary also said both the Centre
and the state government had committed "wrong things" and
would "regret for it."

Hitting out at the DMK government in Tamil Nadu, she
said, "farmers in the state are facing shortage of water,
power, diesel, funds and other farm inputs."

She alleged that the state government had also failed
to get its due share of power from the National grid, saying
"the state's share from the national grid had been reduced by
1,000 MW."

The state, which was getting 2,900 MW during her rule,
was now getting only 1000 MW and supply of Natural gas to the
state's gas power projects also had been reduced to 4.5 lakh
cubic metre per day, she claimed.

"With a view to protect his minority government with
the help of the Congress, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had
given up the rights of the state on many vital issues,
including Cauvery water dispute and Palar, Hogenakkal and
Periyar dam issues," she said.
