Young and promising Indian fashion designers showcased their newest collections at the Lakme Fashion Week, on Sunday. The second day at LFW kicked off with fresh creations by Kallol Datta, Digvijay Singh, and the designer duo Sudhir Nayak and Tapash Biswas. The unique designs showcased by all these designers were more than appreciated.

Kallol Datta’s collection, for the second day of Lakme’s magnanimous fashion event, was named `Body Form`. The label basically treated clothes as decomposing corpses, and this idea owes inspiration to Spanish surrealist painter Salvador Dali.

Newcomer Digvijay Singh’s collection exclusively catered to men. He made a great attempt to beautifully blend different cross-cultural elements like silk, cotton and khadi in his creations, which made his designs exceptional. The designer played with a lot of colours like whites, blacks and greys.

According to Digvijay, his collection is to a great extent inspired by `Patina`, which is a specific kind of green colour, formed on top of the copper due to the oxidation process.
“Patina was the basic inspiration and the whole look was somewhere in between a casual and a formal look and it was funky,” Digvijay Singh told reporters.

The prêt and highly wearable collection showcased by the designer duo Sudhir Nayank and Tapash Biswas was inspired by the relationship between an artist and his muse. The USP of their collection was the structured cuts that proved to be a breather from the much seen flowy designs. The retro look in their creations was the highlight of the show.
The prints in their collection were developed from the brush strokes and the flinging around of the brush and the paint droplets in the canvas.

LFW definitely would be a big morale booster for these young designers with international buyers and fashion experts as spectators.
