Masjid police firing: Term of commission of inquiry extended

Andhra Pradesh government on Monday further extended by three months the term of inquiry commission into the Mecca Masjid police firing after a terror blast two years ago.

The state government had appointed a Commission of
Inquiry headed by Justice V Bhaskara Rao, retired judge of
Andhra Pradesh High Court to inquire into the incidents that
led to opening of fire by the police on May 18, 2007 after
the bomb blast at the historic Mecca Masjid.

According to an official release here, the term of the
commission has been extended by three months till November 6.

Five persons were killed and some others injured in the
police firing.

Earlier, the government had extended the term by two
months on June 9.
