With the recent wave of success that MTV has been experiencing due to its music channel, the brand has decided to encrypt the channel at the “right opportunity”.
The reason for such a decision is fuelled by a recent study conducted by the company. As per the study, India was the fourth in terms of growth of the channel, next only to MTV strongholds Brazil, the US and Italy.
Even in terms of revenue earnings in Asia, India was in the top echelons.
The study was conducted with a view to judge the performance of the channel in the various countries it broadcasts.
Channel to enter radio broadcasting
MTV plans on becoming a 360-degree brand and to that end they plan to enter the radio broadcasting business. This would mean that music-lovers can tune into the FM radio channel and listen to their favourite music, right from MTV.
