New Delhi, March 30: ‘Khuda Kay Liye’, a film by Shoaib Mansoor, demonstrates how wrong interpretations of the scriptures by Maulvis have affected the life of Muslims. Replying to a question as to why he had chosen to work in the film, Naseeruddin Shah, who plays the role of a scholar of Islam in the film, strongly questioned and criticized the Muslim leadership in the country and said that he completely agreed with the views expressed by his character in the film.
In an exclusive chat with the Zee News’ Ashwini Kumar, Naseeruddin Shah frankly expressed his rather strong opinions on the subject extremism. He said that the issues that are not so important are highlighted, and become headline news in the country. However, the ones that need serious attention are always ignored.
"The Muslim leaders do not attempt to discuss or work for issues like hunger, poverty and education here, while what makes news in the country is the length of Sania’s skirt", Shah said.

"What the world is perceiving is not the right picture of Islam" Naseeruddin Shah said, adding that terrorism has become synonymous to Islam in the general – especially the west’s – perspective. Speaking of his role in the film, the actor said that he stands strongly against the present scenario, wherein the whole community is held responsible for the wrongdoings of a few. "It is because of this reason," he said, "that Muslims are being treated, with suspicion, in every part of the world".

While talking about the subject of the film, he said that he is more than satisfied with the story and his role in it; adding that he was least bothered about how the film would do at the box office.

.

The actor’s views have once again highlighted the issue, which, time and again, has been strongly argued over.

‘Khuda Kay Liye’ is based on the life of those who are forced into terrorism and are tagged as ‘terrorists’. The film is an effort to convey to the people, the real face of Islam.

The film focuses on the issues about Islam that people belonging to other religions want to know. The film has moments and scenes that leave a long lasting impact; as it should be when a film deals with such subjects.
