New Delhi: The revolutionary change of guard within the BJP finally took place on Saturday, when Nitin Gadkari replaced Rajnath Singh as the new BJP president.
Gadkari, who till now served as the Maharashtra unit BJP president reached Delhi today in the morning and was accompanied by BJP organisation secretary Ramlal.
The decision was announced at the BJP Parliamentary Board by Rajnath Singh who also formally announced his decision to quit from the post.
Gadkari (52), is believed to be an RSS choice, which had long time back hinted that someone who does not belong to Delhi, and is comparatively younger, will take over as the new BJP president.
Gadkari said he would seek the blessings of veteran party leader and former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee soon after assuming the charge.
