Nothing to worry about border activity: Army

New Delhi, Aug 29: Pakistan is building some new bunkers, and improving and renovating old ones on its side of the International border, but there is no cause for alarm, GoC-in-C Western Command Lt Gen Vijay Oberoi said here on Tuesday.
Some of this activity was routine and not on a large scale and the Army was fully prepared to face any eventuality, he told the media.

''We know that our adversary across the border is unreliable but our troops are alert,'' he said.
“The heightened activity across the border indicates the enemy's fear of what we can do.”
Rebutting criticism from some quarters that families of armymen who died in earlier conflicts and anti-insurgency operations were not being looked after as well by the government as the families of armymen who died in Kargil conflict, he said, “To us every casualty, whether in war, proxy war or counter-insurgency operations is the same.”

Earlier, he inaugurated a plantation drive organised in the campus of 12 JAK LI to commemorate one year of martyrdom of heroes who flushed out intruders from the Batalik sector of Kargil.

The first one to be launched into operation Vijay, 12 JAK LI lost two oficers, one JCO and 21 jawans in the process of driving out the Pakistani intruders. It won 34 gallantry awards, including one Mahavir Chakra and four Vir Chakras.
