Jammu, Aug 25: The alert Indian troops deployed along the border in Poonch sector on the Line of Control (LoC) foiled an attempt by Pakistani troops to capture an Indian post. At least 10 Pakistani soldiers were killed.
A defence spokesman said here on Friday: “In the early hours of Thursday, Pak army attacked one of our forward posts in the vicinity of the Line of Control in Poonch sector, which was foiled by the alert troops of Punch Brigade of Ace of Spades division.
At 4 a.m. when the troops noticed about 30 to 40 Pak soldiers approaching for attack on one of our forward posts, they immediately illuminated the area and started firing heavily. Enemy posts in the nearby area also opened fire. In the close fighting, the Pak infiltrators were forced to withdraw leaving behind bodies of two Pak soldiers and three weapons.
The enemy is expected to have suffered another 8 to 10 casualties.
“Heavy firing continues and we have reports of one of our jawans being killed and another missing,” the spokesman added.
