Patna, Oct 10: The Patna High Court today ordered
state-owned BSNL, MTNL and NIC to assist the Bihar government
in arranging trial by video-conferencing of the controversial
RJD MP Mohammed Shahabuddin at the All India Institute Of
Medical Sciences in Delhi where he had undergone an operation.

In his order, Justice V N Sinha said, since the Bihar
government has in the past pleaded that it could not make
arrangements for trial by video-conferencing of the RJD MP as
it involved high cost and also non-availability of an
efficient agency to carry the work, the court directs Bharat
Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd.
(MTNL) and National Informatics Centre (NIC) to provide all
assistance to the Bihar government for the job.

The order was given by Justice Sinha after perusing the
report of AIIMS that the Siwan MP had undergone an operation
for his spinal problem on Saturday and would require 10-15
days to recover.

Justice Sinha directed the AIIMS authorities to provide a
report on the recovery of Shahabuddin on next date of the
hearing on October 18.

The court also directed that a copy of the order be
provided to heads of BSNL, MTNL and NIC.
