Holding that public was well informed to deal in the share market, Supreme Court, on Tuesday, dismissed a petition seeking a direction to Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and Union Government to regulate the book-building resorted to by companies before they float their public issues.

A bench comprising Justice B N Kirpal, Justice Doraiswamy Raju and Justice K G Balakrishnan dismissed a petition filed by Pradeep Bhavnani, President of National Association of Small Investors (NASI) saying there was no merit in it.
