London, March 12: Over five years after Sir Sean Connery decided to write his autobiography, the former James Bond star has reportedly completed the book 'Being a Scot'.
The book, which mixes a frank account of Connery's life with an esoteric take on Scotland's history and culture, is scheduled for publication in Autumn.
A publishing brief suggests that the book will detail Connery's childhood in a gaslit Fountainbridge tenement, his golf training from Gert Frobe, and his weekends with Billy Connolly, "the funniest man alive".
It also states that the book has more than 300 pages, and draws on 400 photographs from Connery's collection.
Connery has written his memoirs jointly with Murray Grigor, the filmmaker who is his old friend.
"The book really reflects the life and film achievements of this extraordinary man. It reflects topics of Scottish culture, high and low," The Scotsman quoted Grigor as saying.
The book will be published by British publishing house Weidenfeld and Nicolson.
"I'm very excited about this book. There's a book called England Made Me. This is really how Scotland made me," says publisher Alan Samson as saying.
"We can't pretend it's something it isn't. It is not a book of titillating revelations about the women in his life, nor will it be sold that way," he says.
Earlier, the book was due to be released by Scottish publisher Canongate. However, Connery and Grigor changed their decision, believably after having an alleged clash with the publishing house's Jamie Byng.
