Tamil film industry on strike over Hogenakkal project

The Tamil film industry is holding one day strike to protest attacks on movie halls showing Tamil films in Bangalore.

Chennai, April 04: The Tamil film industry is holding one day strike to protest attacks on movie halls showing Tamil films in Bangalore.
The attacks have been linked by TN’s Hogenakkal water project, which is opposed by Karnataka as it is claiming that the area belongs to it.

The Hogenakkal water reservoir project was aimed at stepping up drinking water supply for people in Tamilnadu`s Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts.

The strike which will also include a day long fast has been called for by Tamil Film Chamber of Commerce.

Top film personalities including Rajnikanth are participating in the fast. Rajni was criticised earlier for not supporting the Cauvery cause.

On the other hand, senior actors and film makers of the Karnataka film industry have also started their own protest.
