London, Sep 06: Sachin Tendulkar has dismissed the claims that he is retiring anytime soon but his records show why his presence is so important in the Indian team.

Recently, Sachin Tendulkar became only the third batsman in history to score 11,000 Test runs. The 34-year-old Tendulkar, achieved the feat while playing his 139th Test.

Tendulkar on that day joined an exclusive club whose only other members are Test runs world record-holder Brian Lara (11,953) and former Australia captain Allan Border (11,174), both of whom have retired.

Given below are few of the highlights of his career both in Test as well as ODI form of cricket.

  • Rated as the second best batsman of all time (after Don Bradman) by Wisden.
  • Highest number of Test centuries (37).
  • Played in the highest number of Cricket Grounds - he has played Test Cricket on 52 different grounds.
  • He is the fastest to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket history. He holds this record along with Brian Lara. Both of them achieved this feat in 195 innings.
  • At 54.87, he has the highest average among those who have scored over 10,000 Test runs.
  • In 1989/90 at the age of just 16 years and 205 days, he became the youngest player to play at the Test level for India against Pakistan at Karachi.
  • At 19, he became the youngest player to score 1000 Test runs. He achieved the feat during India`s tour of South Africa (1992/93).
