TRAI asks telcos to provide quality service in J&K

Chairman Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) J S Sarma on Monday urged the telecom companies operating in Jammu and Kashmir to provide complete and quality mobile service to the state.

Srinagar, June 22: Chairman Telecom Regulatory
Authority of India (TRAI) J S Sarma on Monday urged the telecom
companies operating in Jammu and Kashmir to provide complete
and quality mobile service to the state.

"Providing of quality mobile service to the people is
vital to improve the economy of the state. All necessary steps
should be taken to expedite the expansion of mobile and
landline services in the state," Sarma said in a meeting while
reviewing the status of mobile and broadband network services
here.

Commissioner Municipal Corporation Farooq Ahmad Renzu,
Principal Advisor TRAI Sudhir Gupta, Chief General Manager J&K
circle of BSNL N N Gupta and representative of the Cellular
Operators Association of India T R Dua attended the meeting.

Also and representatives of private telecom companies
like Airtel, Aircel, Reliance, Vodafone and Tata Indicom took
part on the meeting.

Stressing for monitoring quality of mobile services to the
subscribers keeping in view the topography and the difficult
terrain of the border state, Sarma assured that all possible
logical support would be extended to them for providing
quality services to the people.

He emphasised chalking out of year-wise plan to expand
the mobile connectivity to the left out hilly and remote areas
of the state.

Over 40 lakh users of the state have been covered under
mobile services network, sources in telecom said.
