Sibsagar (Assam) Oct 09: Arrested ULFA militants have
confessed that fifty fresh recruits had been instructed by the
leadership to attack police stations in Sibsagar even as
normal life in the district was paralysed on Monday following a
day-long 'Bandh' (shutdown) called by the proscribed unit.

According to official sources, all government offices,
private establishments, banks and financial institutions and
markets remained closed.

Vehicles remained off the road Tand while the national
highway wore a deserted look.

The shutdown was peaceful with no report of any untoward

The ULFA gave a call for shutdown to "protest" the
killing of "sergeant major", of the strike force 28th
battalion, and hardcore militant Debojit Konwar alias Lohit
Konwar by the army.

Meanwhile, the two arrested Ulfa militants Srimanta Bora
and Baikunta Gogoi, who lobbed a hand grenade on Amaguri
