Universities and autonomous educational institutions under Delhi Government will implement five per cent OBC quota in admissions from this year.

New Delhi: Universities and autonomous
educational institutions under Delhi Government will implement
five per cent OBC quota in admissions from this year.

The city government has issued a direction to these
institutions, asking them to implement the quota from 2009-10
session.

Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University has started
working out details on how to implement the quota, varsity
sources said.

"We have got direction from the government for
implementing the quota. We will implement the reservation in
all our departments and affiliated colleges," a university
source said.

The university, set up by Delhi government, has an
intake capacity of 1,500 students in its 10 departments.

The university can implement the quota this session as
it has not started the admission process to its regular
courses, source added.

The Delhi Technical University (DTU), which has
already started the process of admission, will implement the
OBC quota this session.

"The admission for OBC category has not begun. We will
not have any difficulty in implementing the quota," a varsity
official said.
