At least 11 people have reportedly been killed and more than 17 seriously injured in a collision at Gujarat's Vadodara.

Vadodara: In an accident at Vadodara in Gujarat at least 11 people have reportedly been killed and more than 17 were left seriously injured.

The accident ocurred on a bridge near the Waghodia crossroad at Vadodara between a dumper truck and another vehicle.

The incident took place at 3 am on Wednesday. The mishap led to a huge traffic jam on the highway.

The deceased were taken to Sayaji Hospital in Vadodara. Of the deceased, there are five women, three men and a child. 

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief and offered condolences. PM Modi said that the administration is providing all possible assistance at the mishap site.

"Saddened by the accident in Vadodara. My thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones. Praying that the injured recover soon. The administration is providing all possible assistance at the site of the accident," the Prime Minister wrote on Twitter.

While President Ram Nath Kovind said, "Distressed to learn about the loss of lives in a tragic road accident in Vadodara, Gujarat. In this hour of grief, my thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families. I wish speedy recovery of the injured."

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressed grief at the incident and gave his condolences to the bereaved family members. 

He said, "The news the Vadodara road accident is painful, may God give the departed souls a place in heaven." Further, he wished speedy recovery for the injured. 

Earlier, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani instructed officials to provide immediate help to the victims. "Saddened by the loss of lives due to a road accident near Vadodara. Instructed officials to do needful. May those who have been injured recover at the earliest. I pray for the departed souls. Om Shanti," Rupani wrote on Twitter.
