Dreaded gangster Anil Dujana was killed today in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Thursday. The gangster was in the list of most wanted criminals in the state and carried a reward of Rs 50,000. He was booked in several charges, including National Security Act (NSA) and Goonda Act. Anil Nagar alias Anil Dujana belonged to Uttar Pradesh's Dujana village under Badalpur police station in Gautam Buddha Nagar district. According to reports, UP STF surrounded the notorious criminal in Meerut's Bhola Jhal based on credible inputs. It is being reported that Dujana was trying to flee while firing at the police. He died in the retaliatory firing by the STF.
In the police records, the first case against Dujana was registered in 2002 in the murder of Harbir Pahalwan. Dujana was also involved in a murder case in Muzaffarnagar's Rohana. Anil Dujana was synonymous with fear in West UP. A team led by STF SP Brijesh Singh surrounded Dujanan today after getting his location near Gangnahar.
Amitabh Yash, Additional DGP, STF, Uttar Pradesh confirmed the encounter. "Dreaded gangster of western UP, Anil Dujana was killed in an encounter with the Meerut unit of UP STF. He had several cases against him, he was a contract killer and had 18 murder cases against him," he told media.
Dujana had over 60 cases of murder, loot, dacoity and extortion registered against him. Dujana village of Badalpur was once known for the infamous Sunder Nagar alias Sunder Daku. Anil Dujana was lodged in Delhi's Tihar Jail for a long time before he was released on bail in 2021. As soon as he came out of jail, Anil Dujana threatened the witness in the Jaichand Pradhan murder case. Following this, 2 more cases were lodged against Dujana last week.
This is the second high profile killing by UP STF in an encounter after the killing of Atiq Ahmad`s son Asad in Jhansi last month. More details are awaited.
