Ellenabad Assembly Election 2024: With the counting of votes for the Haryana Assembly elections taking place on October 8, all eyes are on the Ellenabad seat, where Abhay Singh Chautala is aiming for re-election. This constituency has long been a stronghold of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and recorded a 67% voter turnout on October 5.
Abhay Chautala, the son of former Haryana Chief Minister OP Chautala, has represented Ellenabad since 2010. This time, he faces tough competition from Congress' Bharat Singh Beniwal and BJP's Amir Chand Talwara, both of whom have previously contested this seat without success.
Chautala has usually thrived in multi-cornered contests thanks to his loyal voter base. However, this election presents a more challenging landscape, potentially making the race more competitive than in previous years.

3:36 PM: Congress candidate Bharat Singh Beniwal achieved a clear victory over Abhay Singh Chautala. Beniwal earned 77,455 votes, accounting for 49.14%, while Chautala secured 62,594 votes, representing 39.71%, as per the Election Commission of India (ECI).
12:55 AM: INC's Bharat Singh Beniwal is holding onto his lead in Ellenabad, currently securing 53,922 votes. He is ahead of INLD candidate Abhay Singh Chautala, who has received 42,251 votes.
12:15 AM: After three hours of counting, Bharat Singh Beniwal of the INC is leading in Ellenabad, with Abhay Singh Chautala of the INLD in second place. The margin between them stands at 8,710 votes.
11:17 AM: Bharat Singh Beniwal is making a strong showing with 27,847 votes, while Abhay Singh Chautala trails behind with 22,069 votes.
10:45 AM: In the 2019 Assembly elections, Chautala defeated BJP’s Pawan Beniwal by a margin of 11,922 votes. Of the 1,81,021 eligible voters in the constituency, 1,50,684 cast their ballots.
