An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Nadigam village in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian early Tuesday morning.

Security forces gunned down four terrorists after an encounter broke out in Nadigam village in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian early Tuesday morning. 

Zee News correspondent Khalid Hussain reports that a para-commando received bullet wounds in the initial firing and passed away before he could be taken to the hospital. Two other soldiers have received injuries.

The terrorists engaged security forces in a fierce gunfight at around 0300hrs but were pinned down by counter fire. They were later found to be active with Hizbul Mujahideen.

 

 

The gunbattle reportedly lasted well over an hour in which the fourt terrorists were killed. A search operation was subsequently launched in a joint operation between Indian Army, CRPF and J&K police to ensure no terrorist(s) was/were still in hiding.
