SRINAGAR: A major fire broke out at a popular Hotel Pamposh located on the Residency Road in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar on Saturday.

Though it is still not known as to what caused the fire, it is believed that the blaze started at the top floor of the multi-storeyed Pamposh Hotel on the Residency Road.

At least 25 fire tenders are currently at the spot to douse the flames. The entire first floor of the eight-storey building has been completely gutted in the massive blaze, according to reports.

The building houses offices of some news channels and business establishments.

Sharing more detail about the fire-fighting operation, DC Srinagar said, ''There are offices of several media houses here. At least 20-22 fire tenders, teams of fire and emergency services, disaster management official and the SDRF are at the spot.''

"There's no loss of life as of now. People have been evacuated safely. A member of the fire services was injured and sent to the hospital for treatment.''

It will take some time for the fire tenders to completely extinguish the blaze, he added.
